Kerepeti was born between 1847 and 1851. His father is believed to have been born in 1827 and his mother in 1829. 1919 electoral records list Kerepeti’s iwi as NgaPuhi, his hapu as Te Waiariki and his residence as Ngunguru.
In September of 1885 Kerepeti, Kamira te Mahara, and Motuhinau Ruamoana applied to subdivide for a subdivision of land. The block of land was in Whangarei and called Pokapu.
