Maraea was born about 1840 in Taumarere, New Zealand. She was married twice, first to Onerahi and then to Wiremu around 1864.

Around 1856 she had a son with Onerahi, Te Rata Herewaka in Waihau, Hokianga. He died on December 28, 1913.
She has a daughter Miere Herewaka with Onerahi about 1859. She died about 1896.
Wiremu Hone Te Paki Ututaonga was born on December 6, 1864. He died about 1906.
Mariata Pinenga Ututaonga was born on May 8, 1866 in Taumarere. She died on July 31, 1935 in Coromandel.
Kane Te Uwe Harawini Ututaonga was born about 1869 In Paihia. She died on July 22, 1950 in Kaeo.
Mere Ngapera Ngawati (nee. Ututaonga Tihei) was born on April 17, 1870 in Kawakawa.
Te Maunga Waiti Ututaonga was born in 1871 and died in 1888 in Whakarewarewa at around age 17.
Tarati Hinemoa Matekino Ututaonga was born on August 21, 1873 in Paihia. She died on July 12, 1963 in Kaikohe.
Ripeka Rangimahora Parani Ututaonga was born on September 16, 1874. She died on July 15, 1938.
Wiremu Ihaka Te Herehere Ututaonga was born on June 3, 1875. He died on September 4, 1949 in Paihia.
Akinihi Ngaota Ututaonga Tihei was born on June 9, 1878 in Kawakawa. She died on March 27, 1962 on Mangakahia Road in Kaikohe.
